Photography for Minerva.com

One of my first clients - Minerva.com are still a joy to shoot for. As a sewist myself, there is always excitement as each new batch arrives, what will be in each bag? My phone is full of photos of the fabrics I love the most and often end up buying.

It’s a great example of how a few different images can really help sell your product online. Creating lighting with a bit of highlight and shadow really shows off the texture of each fabric, without losing any details at each end.

Simple use of props can help to show the scale of a print, or weave like in these images.

It’s all about giving your customer the most amount of information through photography. How does it fold? Is it stiff? Can i see through it? Your written description will also help, maybe through the naming of a colour, or giving the composition of the product and the size.

Selling online is all about communication - between yourself and your customer. When you book at photoshoot with me, it can be really helpful to know where the images will be used, as well as your aim for them. Do you want your images in a lifestyle setting, or maybe you need them to be colourmatched? What is your customer looking for when viewing your images or website?

The lighting, set design and image crop will all play a part in the communication with your customers, so let me know if there are any angles you would like to capture, or textures to really show off!
