The London Textile Fair

At the beginning of the year I visited the London Textile Fair for the first time. I hadn’t realised that you didn’t need to be a huge business to enter, or to purchase fabrics. Of course each supplier had their own terms and conditions, from smaller rolls of fabric, to minimums of hundreds of meters to be purchased at once.

It was really good to go and see what was going to be filling our clothing stores over the next year or so, what will be trending on our high streets. They also had some lovely trend boards at the front of the show, which is really helpful to see what themes will be coming our way.

I visited on the last day of the show, and went in the afternoon and it was really quiet. It’s a great time to go to see all the fabrics easily and speak to the vendors.

The Business Design Centre is a great space for these sorts of events, easily accessible and open plan.

I will definitely go back when they next one is on, it’s so helpful to see the trend forecasts and get some inspiration for my own work.
